What is an energy community?
An energy community is the grouping of several local parties to consume locally produced electricity locally. In Switzerland, there are 3 forms of energy communities: SCC, vSCC and LEC. SolShare is designed for vSCCs and LECs, typically cross-building energy communities. vSCCs and LECs do not require the installation of special infrastructure by an electrician, as the distribution grid operator's (DSO's) infrastructure is used (cabling and smart meter).
What is a vSCC?
A virtual self-consumption community (vSCC) allows the self-consumption share of an energy generation installation to be increased by making the locally produced electricity also available to neighbouring buildings. The locally produced electricity can be sold unilaterally or exchanged mutually.
